Trabzon, which is an isolated, intact and a rare city in a world in which natural life and villages are occasional, is rapidly developing itself but not leaving their traditions. Yomra, which is only 10 km away from Trabzon, was first named by the newcomers as Drona. Through the years, the name Drona became Yomra. There also grows a kind of apple called Yomra.
With its clean air, with its being central, and with its natural beauties, Yomra provides high-quality life. It has been one of the most glamorous counties of Trabzon in recent years.
Within the borders, there exist Trabzon Courthouse, World Trading Centre, sale and services of the world’s most famous automobile companies, farms, and lots of shopping malls. Additionally, Turkey’s biggest gym, Credit and Dormitories Institution’s dormitory with the capacity of 4 thousand people, and the campus of Avrasya University, which is Trabzon’s first foundation university, are among the important living spaces of the county. Sumela Monastery, which is one of the places which is worth seeing in Trabzon, is positioned on a precipice on the foot slope of Karadağ which ascends Altındere valley in the county of Maçka. Colloquially, it is named “Meryem Ana”. The monastery has a fascinating story; according to rumor, the monastery which is built by two priests. These two priests, unaware of each other, had a dream in which they saw Sumela as the place in which the icon shows Virgin Mary holding baby Jesus in her arms.
